EVALUATION- Who would be the audience for your media product and how did you attract/address your audience?

Who would be the audience for your media product?
I have constructed a character profile based on what I think my target audience will be like further down my blog.

How did I attract/address my audience?

I feel my magazine goes against the theory of Davis et al and Julianne Dickey who think women are dominted by the male gaze and that the female form is objectified for male pleasue. The reasons for this is because although my model is wearing red lipstick that is a symbol of sex, she is also wearing a biker black leather jacket with studs which is a symbol of masculinity and shows she is embracing all sides to women. This was to attract a female audience as well as men because it gives women the impression that they can be empowered they don't have to look or act a certain way. They can be who they want to be. This not only attracts the older women but the younger generation as the model is a similar age to them which would add to the appeal. This proves that I am exploiting the theory of uses and gratifications because of thet reason that they may consider the artist to be a role model and identify with them. As for the reason why it would attract the male audience, this would be due to the fact it has a women on the cover, but I would also like to think it has something to do with the contents of the magazine as there are a lot of popual bands featuring.

My target audience are both male and females, aged 13-30. I targeted my magazine at wokring class people, therefore my price was an affordable 2.50. This was done to appeal to my audience more as it would be cheaper than my rival magazines which prices range from 2-3 pound. I produced some audience re-search that would enable me to make changes to my product if needed. I produced open and closed questionnaires. I also had an interview with someone who was within my target audience. I did these different techniques so it would give me a different variety of answers.

Here are some pie charts that represent the closed questions that I asked.

I found asking open questions wasn't as effective as I would have liked it to be as when asked questions such as "can anything be improved" I was given back answers like "I don't know".

That is why the most effective use was to interview people individually.

Here is an example of one of my interviews which I filmed:-

Unfortunately, the video I made on movie maker to make it look more professional wouldn't upload successfully, as a result I had to put my original ones on.

Pre- Audience Re-search

I have done my Audience Re-search. This is so I can get some feedback that will enable me to make changes to my project to improve it. It also will tell me what my target audience think of my magazine. This will also help me with my evaluation stage.
Later on I will post my feedback.
